5 Things Your Man Cave Needs

Every man needs his space to relax and unwind. When designing your man cave, though, you should include a few essentials to create an attractive, functional space. While anyone can toss some chairs in the basement and call it a man cave, it takes a little more work to turn this area into your own personal oasis.

Comfortable Seating

Designing a man cave begins with adding comfortable seating. A leather recliner with a matching sofa is an excellent combination that's both comfortable and stylish. Alternatively, you can install multiple rows of theater-style chairs. When choosing seating, consider the size of your man cave and how you intend to use it.

Large Flat-Screen TV

No man cave is complete without a large flat-screen TV. According to a survey conducted by Joybird, this is the single most-wanted feature of a man cave. With a large flat-screen TV mounted on the wall, you can watch movies, sports games, TV shows, play video games or even stream music.

Sports Memorabilia

Sports memorabilia is an essential element to a man cave. Whether you enjoy football, baseball, hockey, basketball or NASCAR, you should show off your love for sports by decorating your man cave with the appropriate memorabilia. Baseball fans can include autographed baseballs and bats in their decor whereas football fans can consist of autographed jerseys and footballs. You can often find sports memorabilia such as this for sale on Craigslist and eBay. Another idea is to acquire your own by attending games.

The Right Flooring

Your man cave also needs the right flooring. Epoxy garage flooring has become a popular choice for man caves because of its sleek appearance and durability. Although it looks like a painted surface, epoxy garage flooring consists of resin that's mixed with a separate hardening product. Once the compound has cured, the flooring is incredibly strong and durable, making it ideal for your man cave.

Finally, your man cave needs a refrigerator. When you're in the middle of watching the big game, you probably don't want to make a special trip up to your kitchen to get another beverage. With a refrigerator or mini fridge installed in your man cave, however, this isn't a problem.

These are just a few things to consider adding to your man cave. Being that this is your personal space, you shouldn't limit yourself to using only the items listed here. Feel free to experiment with other furniture and accessories to create the perfect man cave.
